Small Town Fun -- The Carnival brings a blast of screams and cotton-candy-stained faces to Norwood for 4 days in summer. This year, it will be the weekend BEFORE the Rodeo, launching the San Miguel Basin Fair. Rides and games will be open at Noon, running until the crowds thin out, usually around 10-11pm each night. Wrist bands are available at the Fair, but are only $18 if purchased from a local Norwood merchant in advance.

In the past, this company has brought a half-dozen rides appropriate for 6 and under, and few of the Family Friendly ones, and 3 or 4 of the Teen Scream options. There is a food wagon - candy apples, cotton candy, pretzels, funnel cakes, and sodas for sure. And of course the Midway Games, to impress and delight your friends and foes.

On Sunday, July 20th, the community Dessert Contest gets underway, with entries due by 5pm, and the great Public Tasting at 7pm (line up at 6:30). Categories include Pies (fruit, other), Cakes (frosted, un-frosted), and Ice Cream (fruit, other) with "youth", "professional" and "amateur" classes in each. And it's FREE!!!

So bring the whole family, spend the night, and fill up on the BEST Blue Ribbon family-recipe desserts before heading back to the real world.
